Two is my limit also. If they can't it so I can hear it, I figure that it isn't that important.

One of those hind site's 20/20 things. When you just nod and smile and somebody stares at you waiting for an answer, that's when you should have said "What?".

my worst is when someone that I'm related to by marrage says something in annother room I will go in and make a smart comment. After that I don't know what she was asking but I can hear plainly what she is saying.

I can really relate to this. Last Christmas my wife told our daughters what she wanted for Christmas was for their Dad to get some hearing aids. They really do work well, this past harvest I was running the combine across the field and it just didn't sound right. Seemed too noisy. Even opened up the cab door to see if I could hear what seemed to be making the extra noise when it dawned on me that I had my hearing aids turned up on high. Set them back to normal and she calmed down and was running like a sewing machine.

I know that my hearing is at this point a little reduced from what it used to be, but for years, my wife complained that I didn't hear well. When I finally got it checked the Doc said tell my wife to speak up. I am constantly annoyed by people who speak in a normal voice when in a high background noise area.

My pet peeve is saying something and person says what and then answers before you can repeat question, it is a bad habit and they do it every time.

My oldest daughter is a fast talker, I'll say 'what' 3 or 4 times then I'll tell her to slow way down and talk louder, then I can usually understand her. I work in a library, so there are some people who take the 'quiet, you're in a library' way to seriously and whisper to me from across the desk and I have to tell them to speak up, I can't hear a word you're saying, then that is followed by the appropriate number or 'whats' until the volume is at an acceptable level.
