Interesting mower

Spotted this machine at the filling station. Three decks up front, two under the belly. The man hauling it was demonstrating it around the country and when asked, didn't know if it was hydraulic drive or not. I thought it was pretty obvious.

I was in the gas station when he pulled up to the pumps and I could see what looked like cables or hoses from the distance. I asked the guy as he walked up to the checkout counter. I didn't get a good look myself until I walked back out to my truck. That's when I snapped the pictures.

Yes they are from the Turf division of John Deere a separate division and franchise they offer many "very" different machines for Golf course maintenance..Most are a step more advanced than the normal yard care equipment..

That's alright. The way I worded it I may have made the same comment to myself. The only reason I asked before I looked is because I know some companies are trying out all electric mowers. If that's what he had I wanted to ask a few questions about it while he was standing beside me. I just thought it odd he didn't know what it was. Must have been just the delivery boy, not a salesman.

It is amazing that people responsible for things like this know so little about them AND how little interest they have in knowing! I would be all over the thing to see how it worked.
Try asking a salesman about the cars he is selling. So MANY are completely ignorant!
I did not know anyone was building and electric rider again. Good idea. Do you know who?

Yeah, salesman told me my Yukon XL has an electronic air cleaner. He was talking about the MAS.

With that wide wheel base and low center of gravity, that machine would be really great for mowing steep slopes such as earthen dams. I would shutter to ask the cost though!!

I was more curious the amount of horsepower required to run not only the propulsion motors but another pump big enough to run five deck motors. Not to mention the cooling capacity required for mowing in 90-100 degree heat. Hydraulic systems build up a lot of heat in a hurry. I guess maybe on golf courses they never really do "mow" anything, just trim which doesn't take much horsepower.

Probably cost nigh onto a hundred dollars? Makes me glad that we don't have any grass to mow.

I don't know how much the John Deere is, but its Jacobsen competitor is approximately $54,000. 4 cyl. turbo Kubota with full time four wheel drive. Amazing machines as they are great labor savers on a golf course.

Hustler was building one called the Zeon, 42" deck. Last time I looked at the newest models on their website it wasn't mentioned. I presume they scratched the idea ??? Most of these things are designed ok except for the battery life and charging systems never seen to hold up but we're slowly getting there. I have a Milwaukee 1/2 inch impact that will drive lag bolts into treated posts and railroad ties all day long on one battery and my brother has a Stihl electric chain saw that will run the same way. Just a matter of time before they get to the bigger stuff. At my son's engineering school they were having fun building electric snowmobiles.
