Have you tried ebay ? That's where I get the plastic gears for the newer models.
Short of that it will be a good time to buy a new opener with all the black Friday sales.

Yep that old one lasted to long cause of the way it is built. So they quit selling parts for it. They cheaped the newer ones up with plastic gears that last about half as long.

All this is in an effort to sell more new openers.

I found out about the plastic gears the hard way,too-it wore out also.I now pull the cover once a year and grease the gears. That brass one must be ancient ! Maybe a machinist can help?Mark

Martin Sprocket and Gear has a good selection of stock size gears. Won't be brass, but steel should work, might find one with the same pitch and diameter. It will have a blank center or a pilot hole, then can be machined to what you need. Their website will walk you through the sizing procedure.

For what it is worth, I needed parts for my automatic opener and the manufacturer told me it was made prior to 1993 and the safety codes have changed so it is illegal to sell parts even if they had them. I had to purchase a new one and the only difference I can see is the lights that go on the track on the bottom of door so it won't close if there is any obstrution in it's way. A lot of Bull if you ask me.

You might try Browning. They have a lot of stock size gears. Might find something that could be easily machined to fit.

THANKS GUYS... I will get the gear off and check it, its been broke 5 years I have got use to manually cutting it on and off.. It broke a cable so while I was up there 19 ft I looked into it again.

I installed it in 2001 it came out of one of the local fire departments so theirs no telling how old it is. I brought 4 at the city auction 3 were 3 phase so I gave them to a bud that had 3 phase for spares in case his went out . I called him he don't remember it and the parts may not interchange. When I get time I am going to look for them in his shop. He has a big shop I would guess 100 X 150 packed full of junk....

I want one of these (well 3 of these) with remotes it may be time to get them are something along this line. I want wall mounts so they do not interfere with my lifts.... Any recommendations :?:

It may be possible to turn the gear to the point where the damage is in the unused portion. That switch operator only makes about 3/4 of a turn or less. Make sure to remove the circlip, and loosen the allen screws that retain the switch operators to the shaft. Then break the chain and rotate the mechanism to place the damaged section between the switch strikers, reassemble and readjust. PS, do not clean the contactor with flammable spray and immediately put power on. Big Fire. Make a name for yourself at work...
