Spent the whole day running the M, and some issues have surfaced.
1, oil is blowing out of the valve cover at an alarming rate, need a gasket, bad.
2, the tractor IS burning a slight amount of oil, so we are guessing rings or valve guides.
3, I have a rod bearing knock developing on No.4. It is VERY faint, and I am not worried about running the tractor for now, but I know that sound...
So, the plan now, is that this winter we are going to tear it down, and put in new rings, rod bearings, and work the head over.
I was looking on Ebay, and there is a basic engine gasket kit for the M tractor, being that this is the OLD, first few years engine, is the head gasket, or any of the others different?
Also, what numbers do I need off of the head to determine if it is an all fuel, or gas head? If it is an all fuel head, we are planning on shaving a good bit off of it before reinstalling...
