John Deere b (( oil change ))

Ok.......... So I've clean all the gunk carbon and water and what ever els that was in a model b crankcase I have. I 1st changed the oil when bought it and clean the crank case out good with kerosene ! Now that tractor has been through two oil changes since I've had it crank case looks amazing inside all fresh :) now question is ? What's the odds of switch to a good detergent brand oil ? Like 10w30 or something ? I've heard many people say if it was run on non then keep it that way ? And that if it was non before ,by switch could call for leaks in engine on the seals etc ? Anyone clean there crankcase out good and then run a good detergent oil in there? If so any problems ?

Absolutely no good reason to use non-detergent oil in any engine. You now have your engine clean. Keep it that way with a good detergent oil. I use diesel oil in all my old tractors. Mike

No reason to not put a good detergent oil in it. Now that you have it clean it will stay that way.

15-40 Rotella seems to be a popular product. You could go to Synthetic and get a LOT of use out of it. HTH

I have done that on several tractors and antique engines and my Model T. Never had a problem with 15-40 Rotella. If the intake screen is clean for the pump, you will be fine.
