O.T. Snapper lawn tractor electric PTO

I just bought a Snapper lawn/garden tractor with an 18 hp horizontally opposed Briggs and Stratton flathead twin engine. I was told the electric clutch didn't work as the wires to it were broken. I took it apart and found that the inner bearing had seized and the coil windings had been ripped loose from the mounting plate and ripped the lead wires loose. Anyone ever tried to repair this type of problem? I haven't cleaned it up enough to see if there was damage beyond repair.

This needs to be for a 1" shaft, or I need to find a reducer bushing. The bad one has a triangular shaped mounting plate. I have 1 or 2 that are 1 1/8" bore from old single cylinder Kohler 14 and 16 hp. Not sure on pulley diameter or distance from front of engine. They also have a different style mounting plate. It might not be quite that simple to retrofit. I have to do a little more figuring before I make the move, so that I move the correct direction. I heard Deere and other manufacturers got K341 (Kohler 16 hp) engines with different size crankshaft ends. Thanks, I may get back to you. I hate to inconvenience anyone before I get all the details worked out.

Fawteen, deal with Dave in TX and don't worry about me. I will probably take quite a while to decide what to do. No hurt feelings gonna happen here.
