El Nino is here

It started raining yesterday morning at 5 AM, it is still raining now, 24 hrs later.
It is still dark out so I can't see the gauge yet but we were headed to 2" last night.
I am in central California Sierra foothills. We got .28" a few days ago so I am expecting to see things turning green when the sun finally comes out. I have not seen a storm that left more than 1" in several years.

2.35" so far, chance of showers until 11 PM tonight. I can't see the high mountain peaks right now, they are shrouded in clouds. It probably means it is still snowing there.

I apparently live near TomA and I think you're right. Snow in the mountains is more important come Spring. But, like Tom, I was a bit giddy yesterday with the downpour. Spent a lot of time in the barn with the galvanized steel roof. Very therapeutic.

El Nino is supposed to be dry in the Pacific Northwest, but we got over 4 inches of rain in western Washington over the weekend. That was especially hard to come home to, from Hawaii vacation. But I'm happy for California, finally getting some rain.

We came down I5 from Oregon a couple of weeks and this was what Mt. Shasta looked like. I've never seen it with so little snow before.

It hasn't got to southern California yet. It was to be raining today, but the sun is out. At least I got my tractors covered yesterday. stan

Spare a thought for us on the other side of the Pacific. El Nino produces hot, dry weather for Australia, New Guinea, Indonesia and Pacific Islands

The El Nino was supposed to bring extreme cold and a lot of snow here in the Midwest, but so far it's been warm. It's around seventy three degrees here right now. I'm not complaining though. It can stay this way for the rest of the winter as far as I'm concerned.

El Ninos bring moderate temperatures and lots of moisture, whether it be rain or snow, to the Midwest.

You sure you got that right?, I'm at the top of Illinois, midwest isn't it? For the last two months all I hear on the weather is warmer than normal winter thanks to El nino.
