Just returned from Verlan's sale in Belleville, Il. The restored tractors were done extremely well and had all options available on them. Just a few prices from the tractor line-up.
John Deere WA-17 $80,000.00
John Deere 630 LP Standard $46,000.00
John Deere 620 LP Standard $42,000.00
John Deere 60 LP Standard #37,000.00
Two gear boxes to change a 540 RPM PTO on Waterloo 2-cylinder Tractors to 1000 RPM.
$10,000.00 for one and $8,000.00 for the other.
John Deere 430 Industrial Crawler $30,000.00
John Deere 330 Industrial $24,000.00
John Deere 430 Utility $12,000.00
Just a few of the prices. Amazing just how much one man could collect in his lifetime. Some of the antiques were just outstanding and I think that a lot of them went to museums for others to enjoy. I also understand that he had two or three other auctions before this one. A wonderful man that I have known for several years. May he rest in peace and may others enjoy his vision and the fruits of his labors. Tom
 
Good for him, but way over my budget. A few years ago I saw a WA14 sitting at the Deere dealer in Carrington ND. I didn't know such a tractor existed at that time. I was riding with someone so stopping to look at this different looking Deere didn't happen.
 
I think that there were only 27 of those tractors built and the only other one that I have seen is in Travis Jorde's collection. I have never seen any other of the gear boxes except these
two in my lifetime. Verlan had them installed on the 630 and 620 at the Expo several years ago.
 
Tom I have seen WA tractors but never even heard of the gearboxes your talking about. I am glad his family is getting good money for his collection. Also the high prices means that the rare pieces should be well maintained for the future.
 
When I bought my 720D they also wanted to sell me one of those gearboxes. I think there was something wrong with it ? Seems like I'd better of got it and restored it and left the tractor sit !
