Got the roof done today--Photos

Some of you may have read my posting two weeks ago about moving a summer kitchen building from the farmstead 1/2 mile to my home. Today I had time and weather to re-roof the one side which was in pretty bad shape. When removing the old roll roofing I found a lot of sheeting rotted away as well as several rafter tails. I got a head start the last two evenings and today got the repairs done and shingles on. The first photo is just after I placed the building, the rest are the roof repairs. Made a long day, nearly dark when I was done, so cleanup will have to be another day. Located in western PA.

Sorry for the duplicate posting, it wouldn't post so I changed the title and reposted and oops, they are both there.

Are you going to paint the siding? In a way that would be a shame, it might look like an ordinary shed. There needs to be a way to preserve it's antique look. The roof however did need to be replaced.

Looks good. Though I will never understand why nobody uses steel for roofs with the poor quality of asphalt shingles these days. Steel will last for 50 plus years. shingles only about 10-15 if your lucky.

If you are only getting 10 - 15 years out of an asphalt roof you have a serious problem with the installer. A quality dark/black shingle last about 20 years. Even the cheapest "Shasta White" 3 tab 20 year shingle will last 20+ years and a good quality light colored architectural will last 30+ years.
