What I did today--Photos

Some of you may have read my posting two weeks ago about moving a summer kitchen building from the farmstead 1/2 mile to my home. Today I had time and weather to re-roof the one side which was in pretty bad shape. When removing the old roll roofing I found a lot of sheeting rotted away as well as several rafter tails. I got a head start the last two evenings and today got the repairs done and shingles on. The first photo is just after I placed the building, the rest are the roof repairs. Made a long day, nearly dark when I was done, so cleanup will have to be another day. Located in western PA.

A lot of buildings this age were done with slate roofs. Up on the folks farm two of the old out buildings are in slate. Biggest trouble is never ever step on a slate roof! They can last from 75 to 100 years and more if you don't mess them up. Looks nice and I would guess white with dark green trim? Cool

Looks good. Do you have termites in your area, or is it all dry rot? If that was on the west coast it would be half eaten by now, by termites. Stan

Looks GOOD!!! I am glad your saving the old building that has history with your family. With a good roof these old buildings will last a long time.
