Have trouble burning music cd's onto rewritable cd's and skipping after 4-5 songs & eject cd and feels hot. Anybody with this experience & how to solve? I use cd-r, 700mb, 52x speed, 80 min-these cd's say compact disc recordable on them. I usually only fill with 10-12 songs not using the full 80 minutes.

What are you playing them on? I know on some cars the dash where the radio is will get warm, just the way they are designed.

My Sony only works with CD-R music . If it doesn't say music or have musical notes it won't work. I wish the salesman knew that.

I have made the effort to transfer music from a purchased CD to blank CDs to allow the copy to be subjected to car abuse and possible destruction, while saving the original as archive. I have had no luck using blank music labeled CDs. and just use regular blank CDs. Some Recorded CDs are copy protected, and will skip and struggle to be read so much that the system will get hot. Some sound programs, like Sony Sound Forge, are much more capable than built in players. Jim

How old is your cd drive? I have seen old drives on their way out doing what you describe. You might try iTunes to burn if you have it.

2004 monte carlo & 2013 avalanche. Both vehicles do the same, so i will try setting burn speed at medium or slow (it was set @ high).

I just use windows media player and just use COPY. Also have Roxio and that works very well. GM cars have DELCO radios and some of them do not like Cd+r disks that have been burned. Never use cd-r cause they are junk. The radios you have most likely have SONY CD player decks in them and that is the problem. They are super fussy. Ask a friend that has Roxio to make a couple of copies for you . I bet they will work. Another problem can be you deck is way too old. Go buy a new Western digital or something else that is new. The laser in them is much stronger and makes better dots and dashes on the disk.

Yesterday I was in a hurry to copy two discs of our gospel group. The computer with Windows 8.1 refused to do the job. Wife's computer with Windows 7 sailed right through it. Don't know why - haven't had time to delve into it. Is there something about Windows 8 that keeps us from copying discs?
