Plumbing Project

I was asked by our ag teacher if I could come up with a simple plumbing project for the ag students. This is with plastic pipe to cut the cost. Any ideas? Thanks for any help. J.

J. Schwiebert- Then show them them how to plumb up a kitchen sink. You would not believe how many sinks I've had to install because the homeowner did not how to do it.

All you have to teach them is; shirt runs downhill, you may not have to explain gravity. All can be done with a simple chunk of eves trough and a 1/2 cup of water. Making pipes perform that function is easy-peasy.

Split multiple PVC lengthwise, cap the ends, mount on plywood panel. Fill with water, starting gates on one end......Voila! Instant club fundraiser minnow races!

I agree with Greg.
If this is simple home repair a kitchen sink drain or ice maker/dishwasher hookup to sink.

How to replace a toilet wax gasket would also be good but that evolves more than a few plastic pipes but you might be able to find a old toilet someone threw out.

Hots on left cold on right s--t flows down hill boss in an a-hole Friday is pay day! Learned pluming from and old school fitter!

How about a garden sprinkler? Make a tripod out of PVC about five feet tall with a sprinkler head on top and a female hose connection on the bottom. The brass parts will be a bit expensive, though.

I agree with plumbing a kitchen sink. it is actually complicated; getting the venting arranged correctly, NOT cutting away too much load-bearing studs, getting the vent line run up thru wall, past the kitchen window, the SIZING of the vent line, alternative of a Studor Mini-Vent, alternative of a steel stud-repair clamp, slope of drain lines, all the gaskets involved, the garbage disposal piping, sealing around the sink itself, alwsys ALWAYS use primer, then glue it with the matching proper glue within a few minutes of drying, ........... there's lots to it. Extremely important difference between a P-trap [yes] and an S-trap [NEVER]. Difference between a black-mini-vent [NEVER] and a Studor Mini-Vent [Yes]. Difference between a Sanitary Tee and a Y, the BIG difference in where and how they can and cannot be used. The big difference in what works and what experience has shown does not work.

(quoted from post at 05:30:30 10/31/15) , NOT cutting away too much load-bearing studs, .
Never knew of a plumber or HVAC guy that worried about removing studs or floor joists.
