I have a Farmall 460 gas row crop tractor and the hydraulic system is acting up. When I operate the hydraulics lower or raise the hitch there is a screeching loud noise. I have filled the reservior and
cleaned the filter. I dont know what to do next...any ideas?

Load on your trailer and bring it to me. Na, just playing check your Tele depth linkage and your pressure could be your bypass opening or not opening.

search this site for info on the pump's suction tube. It's easy to get to, but has to be installed properly.

You can find new ones out there in the $70 range I believe.

When you pull the pump out - there's a feed tube on it that crosses over to the filter - that tube has a seal on it.

When that seal goes it can cause that noise.

If a new filter and topping of fluid didn't help - that's the next guess. There is another seal between castings where you have to split the tractor to replace - but the suction tube is more likely.

Some people just overfill the transmission to bring the level up over the suction tube - that way it's no sucking air, just more fluid. That can fix the squeal, but - I don't know. good for a field fix I guess, but not my kind of fix. (and with the price of hytran - probably more expensive than replacing the tube anyways!)

good luck.
