John Deere R wont raise the hyd. plow

try to get ready for a plow day hooked up the plow let it down wouldn't raise it was low on hyd. oil filled then it tried to raise about an inch twice then nothing wouldn;t even go back down could it be air locked the plow worked great on another tractor last week so pretty sure its the tractor how does the hydroulics work on the R don;t need pto on right? thanks for any help Howard

I turned the pto on but it wasn't turning today but it was turning the last time checked few weeks back but didn't have the plow then to try cylinder anyone now how to adjust the linkage for the clutch? what could make the pto work only sometimes? could the pto clutch be slipping? anyone ever adjust that clutch? thanks Howard

wasn't the R prone to stripping the bevel gear in the pto drive line? Tractor has more hp than the gears were rated for. Bill

does anyone have an IT manual that shows how to adjust the PTO clutch pretty sure the clutch needs adjusted because the pto shaft turns sometimes if the gears are striped they wouldn't turn at all right? also would the pto clutch slipping cause the hydroulics not work? thanks for any advise Howard

With a misadjusted PTO clutch, the PTO might turn with no load on the PTO.
Using the hydraulics would put a load on the PTO causing it to stop turning.
