hi all
i have been wearing out the "net" looking for a replacment crankshaft for the daedong td1400b-1 3cyl diesel in this lk3054 kioti, this is proving to be like looking for "hens teeth".
if anyone has a line on available parts, or a good used engine, i would appreciate a heads up.

i apologize up front here for using that kioti word in this forum but in my defense it was made in the late 80's early 90's, so its almost, just sorta, kinda old enough...and no i didn't buy this thing, it was brought to me for repair.

thanking all ya'll in advance

How bad is the crank? Broken cracked. But
just spun bearing. Somebody like HAPI at
Terrahote (spelling) In. Can repair it.

msj113,You might call Southern Global Tractor Parts,404 First Street North, Wiggins, MS 39470 Toll Free 866-742-5748 Local 601-928-7491 Fax 601-528-9312 Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. I know they have all kinds of them little fur en imported tractors and salvage parts tractors there.Maybe they can help you out!

You might try Pat's power equipment. 401-364-6114 Rhode Island. ouch! Maybe more than one crankshaft to fit the same tractor. 1/10 th. the cost of the tractor.
Or Tractor Joe 1-888-860-9096 .St. Louis Mo: also ouch! There maybe more than one crankshaft to fit the same tractor.

Being a cheapskate and Phillistine I could not afford one of these. lol
Cause:
More than likely the crankshaft is a cast one and dispite South Korea's progress some suppliers or sources might be behind in tech. The crank probably had some inclusions in it. If it wasn't inclusions or a slag pocket it might be improper heat treatment all other causes excluded. Give me a forged crankshaft any day. unfortunately too many crankshafts here are cast.

There are/were a lot of good manufacturing companies here in the USA but along with them were a few slipshod ones. There are a lot of slipshod ones where most of our goods are being made now.

I did not know you could apply enough force on a 30 horse tractor to break a crank unless you ran it into a concrete wall. That' why I think it was a defect or manufacturing error.

I've been involved with several broken cranks. Ranging from 5 HP >9000 HP. Cranks weighing from 2 LBS to 20 + TONS.
Every time I installed (or was part of a team)a crank I always use PRUSSIAN BLUEING to check for proper contact of the Crank Journal with the bearing material or lack of contact. Also,if the block was bored to have CRUSH (the bearing shells sit proud of the bearing cap split line and or CAP...99.999% of todays ENGINES)) this was something I would also check.
I may be over emphasizing the importance of checking to see if the BLOCK requires LINE BORE......it's your MONEY so spend as you see fit

Check Standard Crankshaft in Charlotte NC. They can work magic and it may be less expensive. Years ago I had them work an MG crank for me. Rebuild and bearings were cheaper than a replacement. At the time they told me they could repair a crank even if it arrived in pieces. Worth a call?

(quoted from post at 07:56:50 10/28/15) That one isn't even big enough to make a drag anchor.
it is too, it would be just fine for my 27" long radio control boat. but i'm gonna try it on a 23' aluminum canoe first, you could be right tho

hey all thanks for the thots, this unit has four hundred twenty something hours on it. i have gotten some history from the current and previous owner. old pharts the lot of em, me too. they claim to have mostly used it in just personal landscaping and residential luggin an haulin. things really look well maintained in general. at this point i am mostly suspecting defective crank. the things i have read about these korean diesels is most folks have a problem with the clutch being a bit lame...then the hydrolic pump having an aluminum housing to wear out quickly, nothing about engine problems. still perusing the net for replacement parts and or crank repair facilitys. got lots of feelers out lets see what the next few days bring for results.
again, thanks for your thots . keep em coming.

oh yeah, i use felt tip markers for small machine dye projects, crude but effective.
the harmonic balancer appears in good shape.

thanks again
