Husqvarna with Kawasaki

We have a couple of Husqvarna lawn tractors with Kawasaki V-twin engines, and I remember there being some comments about them being fussy about engine oil. I have always used straight 30 in the one we have had the longest, but I was thinking of switching to a 10-40 oil that I can buy in larger quantities at a good price. Any advice?

They are supposed to have 10w-30 used in them. I used to think oil was oil until I had one of my own Kawasaki motors eat the balancer running 15w-40 oil in it. I switched everything over to 10W-30 and have not had any issues since.

My kawasaki 4010 mule calls for 10w40 motorcycle oil. I only have 260 hours on it.
