Anyone know where to get the 9/16 bolts with square heads for the lower fork of the leveling box on the 3pt

Try a local scrap yard. Not sure where you are, but around here we have "Pacific Steel", and they have a LOT of weird and unusual bolts and such...

Its on a 1964 ford 4000. However I have another ford 4000 and a 600 they are not the same. that's why i didn't say what tractor there on. the bolts are 9/16 with a large oversize square head(witch is an odd size).the lower lift arm has a notch to hold the bolt head. Dealer only has the new ones for the stay chains (not the same).I was just hoping that someone new what i was talking about.

Thanks I can have one made to match . Just didn't want to spend 75 dollars on a bolt if i could find one

How about cutting the hex head off a std bolt and welding a square nut to the shank ? I've done it several times . No $75 bolts for me !!

9/16 is a pretty uncommon size, are you sure its a 9/16? I would remove the matching bolt from the opposite side, verify that it fits the hole for the missing bolt, and take that to a dealer.

Somebody messed up that tractor bu getting rid of the stay chaings. Get them back on before you completely destroy your tractot and use the correct stay chain bolts. Your tractor was not made the way you are thinking. Do it correctly. Without that stay chain you can wreck the tractor and kill yourself if that arm srings into a tire. And it is also a shanked bolt of different sizes in so you cannot overtighten it.

Yep, Fastenal. We got a whole bunch of square headed bolts to put together the radiator on a WK-40 from Fastenal.

Now they were standard size, not the "oversized" the writer is talking about.

I would take a good hard bolt, Cut the head off, drill a hole in a piece of appropriately sized flat steel, cut, file, grind the flat steel to the right size and then weld it to bolt.

Many ways to skin a cat.

Several years ago I bought at a papermill auction a Lista cabinet full of various sizes of square head bolts. Can't bear to scrap them but I doubt I have ever had a requirement for any. Anybody need them, let me know.

Bobford, If I were you I would check at some of the salvage yards around the country. Many of those tractors have been sold for salvage. New Holland has that square head 9/16- 18 Thread bolt but,its over 80 bucks new. Expect 1/2 price used. You are correct it does have an oversized square head on it to seat against the arm to prevent turning. You can google a list of Ag. Salvage Yards.
