ssigrik's earlier post about JD's in a movie got me thinking about any movie with tractors in them

can you list any older movies you can think of that has older tractors in them as this is an older
tractor forum

one I watched recently was
"The Flim Flam Man" 1967 George C Scott
had lots of 50 - 60s tractors in the background

a few each of
JD's
Ferguson's
Ford's
Allis Chalmers
Farmal's
and of course my fav Massey Ferguson
were all in there plus few others

I know theres lots of other ones
list your favorite ones and the tractors you remember

I recall as a kid seeing a movie, "Boy's Ranch", set in Texas, that had a WC Allis Chalmers tractor in it.

BTW, in an American History building on the mall in Washington DC, in an agricultural section there's a nice original 1086 Farmall. Not restored, just looks like a working 1086 that's been cleaned up.

That is actually a Caterpillar. Just love it when he takes out the platform at the freight station. How about when he pulls the truck out of the mud. Taxi cabs make good tow trucks. Spruce st. or Pine st.?

Not exactly a movie but fun to watch. It's war time farm produced by BBC . It's about farming in England in ww2 . The show is also on you tube . I like the shotgun starter it also shows things that are not done around here. I couldn't help but laugh one of the guys on the show missed a gear saying if you can't find them grind them this on a very nicely restored car!

the river, with Mel Gibson and Sissy Sapchek, and there was one with Ron Howard,I think it was xalled fatal harvest? How about the one with the older guy riding his garden tractor on a long trip?I dont remeber the name of that one.And the one where the family was losing the farm, the wife was a blonde ,.famous actress, cant think of her name, her father on the movie was Wilfred Brimley. Speaking of the flim flam man, remember the 1 ton ford rack bed,he was painting it in the woods because he stold it?

One of the early versions of State Fair had a brand new Minneapolis Moline U something in it.
I don't recall the name of the movie with Debbie Reynolds and Tony Randall where he was an IRS agent investigating her Dad,but that one had a new Allis D14.

How about the one with the older guy riding his garden tractor on a long trip?I don't remember the name of that one.

That would be The Strait Story, when I was in elementary I remember him going past the school on hwy 18, all of us kids got to go and watch him drive by, thought it was neat to get to see him!

I've never watched the whole thing but "Summer Stock" with Judy Garland and Gene Kelly prominently features a Ford N series (movie made in 1950)

the Move Con Air has a John Deere 80 trying to pull the air plane stuck in the sand....

Son In Law
Bridges of Madison County
The Strait Story
A Christmas Story
Bad As I Wanna Be: The Dennis Rodman Story
There is a new one coming out called Halfway, was filmed on a farm by Monfort Wi

Brown Swiss was that the one where he drove the lawn mower across the bridge a Lansing Iowa?

Bob

Kansas with Geoffry Lewis and Peggy Rea, took me a bit to remember the name of it! Had 8820 JD combines, 1130 Massey and some size JD tractor on a grain cart.

Smallville on TV used to rotate through different brands and models of antique tractors parked in the barn.
The last Avengers movie had a straight steer 1957 420 standard chassis.

My memory is not the greatest but I recall a movie in the late 40's or early 50's that had a scene where a tractor was stuck (seems like it may have been a MM U) that was pulled out with a team of horses. That's about all I recall of the movie. I was very young at the time.

ONLY because it was an Oliver. Just too much power, break the tires loose when it's least expected lol

Guess I never checked out which bridge he went across, or checked out the route he took, looks like he crossed at the Lansing bridge, but why he went on 18 past the school I was at in Grant county makes no sense!
Looks to me he went from the Lansing bridge to Hwy 35 south through PDC on Hwy 18/35 across the Wisconsin River into Grant County and most likely followed Hwy 18 to Fennimore WI, then north bound on Hwy 61 to get to Mount Zion in Crawford County.
He took the scenic route! LOL , and added a day of driving!
To answer the question, yes that is the one!

"The Grapes of Wrath" (1940 ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwXU-_r19w4 at about 15 minutes into the movies, Caterpillars, dozens of them!

Didn't Elvis Presley drive a Massey Ferguson loading shovel in one of his movies?.....I think he might have been in the Army???

All my work buddies laugh at me for this same subject. I always comment if there is a tractor in a movie or show. The movie Easey Rider has a Ford 4000 or 5000 pulling float. In American Graffiti the drag race scene at the end has a Farmall M in the plowed field. The Farmall is at the far left side of the frame. My classic car friends say I'm making this up. I saw this at the Penn Theater when I was in junior high and I swear there was a M,MTA ect.size tractor. If the movie is on tv or youtube you cant see the tractor because of reformulation. Can anyone back me up on this?

the movie sweetland had a farmall regular .of mice and men had a steam engine or a kerosene burner on the threshing machine . green acres early episodes had a fordson later ones had a j.d. D and one episode a new ford 7700

I couldn't tell for sure, I thought it was a big MM. Kevin Costner in It's Not A Perfect World has a 3010 and front mount cultivator in it. Chris

Band of Brothers....Farmall H/M while training in England. Bonnie & Clyde, not a tractor, but one scene shows there car stopped by a hay field...of big round bales. Circa 1930s?

There was a good movie about two rival custom combiners filmed around Blackie, Alberta. I think it starred Wayne Rodgers. Anybody remember this one? It was a long time ago, but I remember it having a combine demolition derby.

the 3010 is still being used by the local family that owned it during filming, the equipment store is now a metal roofing sales. "cousins" had a 1900 oliver, the remake of the longest yard has a nice looking 730.
