Utility Tractor Question

Ok, so how much added value does Four Wheel Assist (FWA) and a Hydro-transmission add to a basic utility tractor in the 30-50 horsepower range? Specifically, John Deere.

As far as resale not having 4x4 will likely kill the sale of it. Or at least take a really, really long time to sell and at a way discounted price.
A 4x4 with hydro and a loader is a very nice set up.

The hydro ? if someone actually wanted to do some tillage work like plowing or discing may not hold up ? I don't know how stout those are ?

So are you looking to buy ? use or new ? or sell one you have ?

Both. Dealer incentives are pretty good. I just don't think people are buying much right now. I don't know.....Thinking about it. I like the JD 3038E tractor though.

I am a JD guy for the most part. Right now that's all I have. I think their model numbers are mind boggling !!! I sure can't keep up with them. Overall I fear JD quality went down and Kubota has gone up over the years ? I have owned a lot of each in the past. I'd find good used ones and run them awhile and sell them and then get another. Most I had were just too small for the loader work I do when I do use them which is not too much. Right now I have a 2000 JD 5105 4x4 with a loader. Loader is VERY strong and lift pretty high for loading and unloading items. Not to big of a size overall. Kubota a few years back came out with a new hydro which I have not ran but it is to automatically shift from low to high range if I understand the literature correctly.
After running a smaller one where I had to keep going from low to dig and scoop to high to transport and an odd placed shifter this sounded like the answer.

The first 4x4 tractor we got was a 6140 All is.It showed what a difference pulling front wheels make on a loader tractor. But it was gear drive and no reverser. Low reverse was to slow and high to fast. Traded it for a 3 thousand series JD. It was to small. Traded 5 yes ago for a 4000 series JD. It will lift as much as the AC. But is twice as fast. We pull a 6-30 no-till kinze planter 5 mph. Has over 1200 hrs. Carries 4x5 bales with ease. And 10 small wire bales.Love it.

Forgot it is a E-hydro. With 2 petals. And Cruise control like a car. Can go any speed you set and if can't pull that fast will slow down till it can. Also has a Hyd top link on the quick coupler. And a parallel linkage on the loader bucket.

I like the 3038E over the 3032E mostly because the engine is turbo-charged. The new Tier 4 engines burn really clean. Congratulations on your purchase!
