The only option that I know will work is to put two 6 volt batteries in series, and put the charger across them both.

What little I know about electronics makes me think that the resistor required would be determined by the electrical output load. 1 amp would require a certain resistance and 2 amp would require a different resistance. As always free advise is worth what you pay for it.

I would suggest you get a 6-Volt battery minder, or, if you have two six Volt batteries, you could connect them to the float charger in series.

With a battery CHARGER, the old-fashioned was to "make do" with a 12 Volt charger on a single 6 Volt battery was to connect a headlight in series, but I would NOT use a resistor or lamp with a "battery minder/float charger".

Take yourself to walmart and spend $20.oo. Th Shumacher charger is 6 and 12 automatic select. Charges and then trickle and then will cycle to desulfate. I think the skew number is 0255-0001-0044 or it is 2666670970 . Shumacher 1.5 amp maintainer charger. Have two and love them.

You cant do t. The BatteryMINDer will never sense full 12V charge, so will never cycle from charge to float / maintain.

OK here is a picture of the charger. As I said it changes by itself for 6 or 12 volt. They work very nicely.
