Ready to Broadcast Rye

I'm ready to broadcast rye with a fertilizer spreader tomorrow. I had to work until 9:30, then went to the John Deere store and picked up a bearing for the bottom shaft on my auger. Got home and took 1850 #2 and stalk cutter and mowed off weeds in drowned out places in the bean field. After lunch I finished combining beans and unloaded them into the bin and took the auger down. The lower bearing squeaked and squalled all the time, but got them unloaded. Hooked fertilizer cart onto 1850#1 and pulled under bin unload auger. Started auger and pulled slide wide open and plugged auger. I got that cleaned out and then cleaned out bin. Finished at 6 and decided to put the doors and windows back in cab and installed the Outback Guidance System and will wait until morning to spread rye. Went to fill tractor with diesel and ran the tank dry. I got a 1/2 a tank in the tractor, so that will spread it and see how far it goes toward disking the rye in. Anyone have a 1' piece of 6" auger tube? The unload auger on the drying bin has a hole rusted in it and I need a short piece to patch it with. Before you all start in about working on Sunday, I'll probably spread rye until 8:30 and then come in and get ready for Sunday School and Church and then go back and play some more after lunch.
Oh, Ya, the spreader has a setting for 45#s/ cu ft, so I set it at 140#s and will go over the field twice. Chris

Sounds like a wonderful day...
A friend of mine called me last week to help get ready to do seed beans....here's how it went;
Had to get another tractor, 2 of his down...JD with bolts sheared off that drives the hyd pump on one, don't know on other.

Have a flat tire on the auger hopper, drove 12 miles for tire and tube. Got that on.

The combine has been blown out thoroughly and washed out, so no corn in beans.

Combine partial hopper, corn in the beans. Run them off in shag wagon. Check combine, pull open doors, find corn in unknown pocket.

Clean that out, try again. Corn in the beans.

Open every compartment known to man and clean everything out, try again, still a little bit of corn in the beans.

Dump them in the wagon, try again. This time we're going to put them in the clean wagon and run them through the bin auger to make sure its clean.

Combine some more, put in clean wagon. Start auger and start to unload, intently looking for corn as it comes out of the wagon, find a very few.

Turn around and look and all the beans are on the ground.... forgot to put the cleanout door on the bottom of the auger.....

We look at each other and just shake our heads....
