Treating ash trees

Didn't want to highjack the thread below on the dying ash trees. We are losing them to the Emerald Ash Borer in the wood lot now and would like to save one Ash shade tree in the yard. Would anyone care to
share what they know about treatment options?

My brother in law in the quad cities gets a product he has to pour on the ground around the tree every year. He said it is expensive but this ash tree shades their deck from the afternoon sun. I suspect the stuff he pours is a systemic insecticide. The nursery he gets it from told him if he skips a year he will lose the tree.

No one here is trying to save them. Losing effort, the borer will kill the tree eventually.
