Hi group. I am a newbie to tractors. I picked up a 48H and it is missing some things that I am in the process of finding. Until I find a generator can I do this? 6V postiive ground battery. Ground strap from positive post to frame. Battery cable to ignition switch. Ignition switch to starter switch. Starter switch to starter? Once I get a generator, Ammeter, Voltage regulator? cutout? I will wire everything in per diagrams.

Battery cable to starter switch. 10 gauge wire from starter switch to ignition switch. Battery cable from starter switch to starter. Provided of course that the tractor has battery ignition and not a magneto ignition.
 
That'll work if its a battery ignition, don't need a hot line to the ignition switch if its got a magneto. If it doesn't have a visible external coil, it probably has a mag. The mag will make its own current and will have a single wire running from the side of the mag body to the ignition switch. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)
 
When I read this I said the same thing. I have done all but the sky light. When we were kids, it was an annual thing to clean out the septic tank. Dad would put two 55 gallon drums on the platform on the back of the 8N. We would bucket out till empty with a 5 gallon pail tied to a rope. We dumped it in the field then later ploughed it under. Dad would always ask if we felt we bucketed out our share. Later on we dug a trench out to the lagoon which we had behind the hog barn and put in tile. All done with permits, yea right.....
