I have a deutz dx 130 and have started having trouble with the pto continuing to turn after it has been shut off. Does anyone know what the problem could be? thanks so much for any help

most hydraulically operated PTOs have an hydraulically operated brake to stop the clutch pack drag from turning the shaft when not engaged. The brake wears out after tens of thousands of hours

if it has a clutch pack for the pto and then it has many little clutch disc one fiber one steel one fiber one steel and so on could be up to 10 or a few less or a few more after time they will get hot and warp and some times the will weld together so that they will not release only fix is replace. if it was ever slipping that for sure is the problem

On most tractors you have to split between the trans and rear axle. Before splitting however, check to see if you can stop the shaft by pushing or pulling a 2x4 against it in a manner that gives you leverage. I have a tractor with hydraulic clutch pack engage but no brake, and I can easily stop the shaft by pressing the coupling of whatever implement I am hooking up against the shaft. Some tractors you get at the brake by removing the rear cover and on some by removing a side cover.
