Not tractor, but machine related.

I can't resist this. Not tractor related, but knew you guys would really hate to miss this.

Grandson is 4, just started pre-school, and having some issues with going to school. And it sorta messed up his potty habits. He had been 100% trained, but had a little relapse, so they have to remind him and watch him to prevent accidents.

Another thing to mention is he is super interested in tractors, trains, machines, etc. Has a bunch of DVD's on logging, excavators, etc.

So now you know the background.

He came out of the bathroom the other day, looked at Tammy and said, " Grandma, the toilet is a wonderful machine"!

Never really thought of it as a machine, but he's right.

Gene :D

That's one tool I do not have in my shop-yet. I have a grandson who is about the same age as yours and has the same problem though I haven't heard of any accidents in school. His parents didn't think they would ever get that kid trained.

Anything that is used to better the
quality of life and advance the way
things had been done before that was
created by humans is a machine. We have
many around us that we all take for
granted. So yeah, not going to lie,
it's pretty darn cute your grandson
made sure grandma knew. Haha to be
young(er)? again...

that's f unny ,, got me to thinkin .my grandparents refered to all cars and tractors as a "machine " and motorized trucks as " motor wagons",,.can any of you relate?

the old time mountaineers in West Virginia called equipment 'chines', pronounced 'sheens'. As in "You give us chines & we'll build road". That sentence was actually used when the workers were wanting better road-building machinery than the junk they had been using.

The word "TRACTOR" came from two words.

"TRACTION-MOTOR".

This came from when they put the first Gas Engine on a frame to propel it. So that was common language back in the day when engine/motors started to power the horse drawn equipment. The Horseless Carriage was another name given to the first cars. I look at it as the transition period.

In today who would ever think households wouldn't have a landline phone any more but it's happening.

A lot has happened the last 100 years.

Lest we not forget the six simple machines as defined by renaissance scientists:
Lever
Wheel and axle
Pulley
Inclined plane
Wedge
Screw

When I was 8-10yrs old(back in the '60s),I remember hearing older grandmother age women calling cars machines.I thought they were very old fashioned !Oddly enough, recently I was thinking of that-cars being called machines- and how long it had been since I had heard someone say that.I have been reminiscing a lot lately!Mark
