Quick Hitch

How much side-to-side sway is normal when using a quick hitch when plowing? The least my factory sway blocks will allow is about 6-7". Seems a bit too much to me.

Not too much. The plow is designed to find its own definition of straight. If restricted, two things happen 1} the tractor will be difficult to steer in the furrow because the plow will push the front sideways (usually to the right). 2} the plow will pull harder, and may not have correct furrow spacing in the first moldboard. Unless your using a semi mounted plow the quick hitch will not allow the plow to work correctly. As for side to side sway. Plows usually swayed much more than 6-7 inches. You need that for plowing around curves and such. If you set it too tight you will have trouble steering the tractor and could break the hitch on the tractor or the plow.
