Puzzling Transmission Code from Ford Model Number

I just picked up a 1972 Ford 3500. (According to the number below and body style)

Model Number: C5012B
2D07B
SN C335261

I'm trying to figure out the transmission but there is no "B" listed anywhere. I thought it may be a mistake and was an E but I even rubbed chalk over the numbers to make them stand out and very clear it shows "B". Also from driving it, the transmission has 3 forward gear and 1 reverse gear. That does not match any of the transmission options I could find.

Anyone have any idea?

Thanks, Jim

Jimmycap,On the manual transmissions, the name specifies the number of forward gears, so your transmission is actually referred to as the 6 speed manual transmission, which is correct for the B transmission code at the end of the model number. The "8 speed" (C code) had 8 forward and 2 reverse speeds. Most of the industrial models back then had the power reverse, manual reverse or the S-O-S.
