Another hunting question?

Just got back in from driving my tractor around checking fence. Saw a lot of game sign, looks
to be a good year.

Anyway, what is your take on Bag Limits?

In my state, let's use squirrels for example, you are allowed a daily bag limit of 6 but
allowed to have 12 in your possession (like in case you went on a weekend hunting trip, that
would be a 2 day total).

But, I can have a whole freezer full back home.

I have been told by others from different states that in their state the 12 possession limit
means 12 is the total you can have in your possession, including any at home.

I asked the local game warden and he said they don't care how many you have at home, just what
is in your possession while out in the field.

How is the possession limit law handled in your state?

The six in your freezer count towards possession limit. You can kill six everyday (actually 10 in many counties) and put them in someone else's freezer. Then of course you can do as most do and go for a few more as you eat some from the freezer.
As a side note,Texas game wardens regularly help out other law enforcment agencys by useing their ability to sidestep search warrant requirments.

My Wife, my son and I were at the patio eating ice-cream and rhubarb cobbler when two grey squirrels, chasing each other came over the fence on the fly. The first saw the error of its way, and flipped in mid air, missing its table landing, and whacking into the edge of the table a foot from my son. it made it to the ground and ran under my chair then up a pine tree 8 feet behind me. The second squirrel hung onto the fence top and whacked into the Barbeque lid (cold) then ran back down the fence. We were thinking of bag limit as in gunny sack. Jim

In Minnesota, possession limit means, on you, at home or anyplace else that you have a place to put them but still claim ownership. You can give them away but legally, you are supposed to have your license number on the package you give away. Guess how many do that.

5 a day in Indiana. No limit on coyote, fox or coons.

Here in Vermont a two day limit is all you can have - home or freezer. Now if you go over that with Waterfowl you will get hanged big time.

I was eating Christmas dinner with a WV senator and was discussing this same topic.He said this is ridicules.The next year the law was taken out of the hunting reg.
