Why is it, if you drop something you can always find it hiding under a tire?

Why is it, you have to work to clean off a workbench before you can work on it?

Why is it, if I get next to a tractor dirt jumps on my clothes?

Why is it, if I pick up a grease gun grease jumps on me before I use it?

Why is it, when you work on something you always have spare parts?

Why is it, when you finish working on something tools are missing?

Do you have anything you can add to the why is it list?

Hmmm, your name wouldn't be "Joe Btfsplk", would it??

(And you are gonna hafta be an old man if'n you recognize that name!)

I was listening to Car Talk on WPR over the weekend. They said that if you disassembled and reassembled a part enough times you'll have enough spare parts to put a second one together.

Why is it when pulling a trailer on the interstate and a vehicle is coming up the entrance ramp and you move over to let it get in the lane, it will keep running beside you instead of returning the favor and let you back over. Instead of having to speed or slow down to get back over. Slow down causes vehicles behind to jump in the lane behind the first vehicle and then others back up behind you.

Why is it you can pull an oversized piece of equipment down the road for 30 miles without encountering any oncoming traffic?
But the second you have to cross a narrow bridge it is guaranteed some idiot in a small car that has no concept of how to move over will magically appear out of thin air the second you get on the bridge.

Why is it that nearly the first time I wore a new jacket I got for Christmas it got tore getting off the tractor? Couldn't do it again if I tried.

Why is it that every time I drop a nut or washer, it always rolls under something and stops right next to the biggest, ugliest, mad, dad burn spider on the planet?

why is it when you work on a truck and when done you cant find 1/2 inch socket, pull every thing out of truck cant find it, next day go out to truck 1/2 inch socket sitting in middle of floorboard?

Why is it when you plug the cord in the outlet the big prong is in the small slot? Shouldn't you get it right half the time.

Why is it. I can sit in my truck and not one vehicle comes by. As soon as I put it in reverse. The street turns into a major highway.

Not with me. I swear the absolute second my hands get greasy my eyes itch. The greasier the more itchy. Must be an alergic reaction.

A new one. Why is it when you use your fancy phone for a flashlight and get back as far as you can in a dark building you get a phone call.

why is it, When kneeling down working on something, set a tool down, go to pick it back up...gone.
I haven't moved......it [i:ca1c27413f]has[/i:ca1c27413f] to be here!?!

why is it, laying on a board in the muck, jostle the board, the next tool you will need will be under the board...with your weight on it.

one of my favorite sayings in the shop...
'do it again'
cords, ropes, airlines doing an impossible hook on something.
drop something, impossible flips, bounces and loops...to break something.
etc, etc
'do it again'.....to win a million..do it again deliberately...impossible.

We move wide equipment on narrow country roads and oncoming traffic is usually polite when they see you coming and pull over and stop. Usually right across from a utility pole or a mailbox.

You are pretty d*** lucky its on the last day. The best ones are a massive break down the first hour of harvest......

Just yesterday I took a push blade off my Farmall M to put on the bucket and couldn't find one of the pins. After a few minutes I found it, under the gazillion lb pushblade that was no longer hooked to the loader.

Why is it that whenever I get into a tight or awkward space, up to my elbows in grease or goop, that my cell phone rings in my pocket, and it's usually one of the kids or wife wanting to know if I'm OK?

pdruff,

You pretty well named it except I got it worse. I probably have cognitive contrary search image stress. If I look for a flat bladed screw driver all I see is phillips screwdrivers. If I come back ten minutes later and look for a phillips all I find are flat blade ones. If I am looking for a 1/2 inch socket like you said all I find are 12mm and 13mm sockets. It is only after I buy two extra 1/2 inch sockets that I find the old ones. Murphy and I are long time acquaintances.

Murphy' laws have a full listing and are filled with corollaries. I looked up the origin. It is quite interesting. Someone wrote that there are over 1250 Murphy's laws and corollaries.

If they can run the "Peanuts" comic strip forever and ever, why can't they bring back Lil' Abner? I realize that Al Capp is dead, but since 'Peanuts" is a rerun, why not rerun Li"l Abner?

How come gas can stay at the same price for two weeks but as soon as I fill my pickup the price drops 20 cents a gallon!?!?

Why is it that when you are head first and upside down in a piece of equipment trying to grease that almost impossible to reach fitting your grease gun has only one pump left in it....
