We're about to pick up a Long 610 tomorrow that we traded for recently. It's going to have to have some work done on it. My brother-in-law used to manage a parts counter
for a dealer that handled Long tractors several years ago. He was saying that the Long and the Farmtrac are the same tractor and have a Fiat engine in them.

If that's the case, does anyone know what Farmtrac tractor would be the equivalent to a Long 610? The 6060 looks to be the newer model Farmtrac that is a similar 60HP
tractor but I'm sure that's a newer number on it and not the older one that would correspond to the old Long 610 number. Is it perhaps the Farmtrac 665, which was a 60HP too?

I can find a free Farmtrac parts catalog online but haven't been able to find a similar catalog for a Long online yet, so that we know what part numbers are for the items
we'll need, when we start working on it.

Farmtrac is a company all it's own. It bought in to Long and called it Long Agribusiness.Later on it became Farmtrac. The Farmtrac was built on old style Escort Ford plans. Somewhat like the Ford tractor. They are still built in India.

The Long tractor was in that deal. Farmtrac still had some longs till Farmtrac went bankrupt in the US. After that Montana had several of those Long tractor models under there name. Farmtrac doesn't have those models anymore. Montana may not now if they still exist. The Farmtrac parts you find up in NY are just that Farmtrac parts. Not Long parts.

The reason Farmtrac USA went belly up was several CEO's from India walked off with 50+ million dollars from the USA company and left dealers holding the tractors. Those CEO's are wanted by North Carolina but can't get them back on our soil to prosecute.

The Long 610 is the updated 560 Long built by Fiat.Really good tractors.Parts are easy to find and very reasonable on ebay and from Import Tractor think YT has a pretty good selection of parts too. They are very similar to the Oliver 1365 also. The only thing on all those Fiat tractors with the 8 speed is to ALWAYS leave the PTO lever in the down position except when engaging the PTO if left in the up position it'll first wear out the trust washers then it'll make the crank go into the block.Any questions about parts to fix your tractors can be answered by Danny Bowes at Import Tractor he knows them well.

I have a Long 610 bought new in 1980. It has been good, showing it's age now but still runs good.

The 2610 replaced the 610. They lengthened the wheelbase by putting a spacer in the frame between the transmission and rear end. Toward the end of the company they replaced the 2610 with, I think, the 680, which is almost the same tractor. Forget about worrying about interchanging parts, there are a lot more 610s out there so you can look for parts for them. The transmission and rear end is the same in the 460, the 510, and the 610 as best I remember.

Don't let the clutch stay in there if it wears out, there is a bracket for the thrust bearing, I think, that wears out if a worn out clutch is driven and it is NLA.

Don't let it run out of fuel, the lines are the devil to bleed to restart. When changing fuel filters try to fill the new filter with fuel before installing(not easy).
