Wow.

I'm trying to finish up some rough hay baling, did 1/3 last week only got 2 rains on it. Moved the round bales to higher ground, drove yesterday to look at it, about 4 inches of water sitting on the grass. Had 2.5 and .9 inches of rain here. Fellas are ticked trying to make silage sitting and waiting, sweet corn harvesters just go no matter what, but its a real mess in this tight clayish soil. Overcast already, no drying going on.

We have a slight chance of showers this afternoon. The 2.5 we got was a 20% chance of light showers.....

I was worried we would end up with a difficult harvest. Wish we could market and trade weather like we do grain and cattle......

We are really dry out here in Washington and northwest in general. Forests are burning up and so many fires there aren't enough people to fight back. We didn't get much snow last year to keep reservoirs filled and have had very little rain this summer. You dump a bucket of water on the ground and it just disappears. We are hoping for a big snow year but would help if we got some rain now to wet up the ground going into the winter. Most guys are already feeding cows as pastures have dried up.

Boy I guess its dry, top soil here is powder dry now, relief is coming though, think this heat wave will break, a bit much if your outside doing labor, but its been worse as I recall. I suppose that latest edition to the fleet hooked to that drill is running well after the major repair, was wondering what you thought of it after some seat time.

It is strange about rain here in Georgia, it was dry here back in June but we have had more this year in my area than I can recall. I'm averaging 2" a week.
