ford f-700 grain truck

Hi guys,
I am just finishing the rebuild of the 330 hd motor in my 1966 Ford F-700 grain truck. I am having a fit trying to find the parking brake parts. It has the 10 inch drum with brake shoes in it, just behind the transmission. I need new shoes and springs and all my local parts places can't help me find them. Do you have any suggestions as to what to do at this point? I suppose I could have them sent in a have new linings put in them, but the springs are shot and haven't been easy to find either. I appreciate any and all help.

Find a truck parts distributor in your area that is a dealer for that brand of tranny... (Clark, maybe? Spicer?) and give them the tag info off of the tranny, as the parking brake will be listed in the tranny parts catalog.

At least as of several years ago, that still worked, but the way things have gone it may be to old.

My suggestion is to find a brake supply place. Some of those guys know what you laid on the counter before you tell them.

RT (My two cents)

The automotive parts stores usually have no idea what you are talking about and will say they cant help.
Have them look up listings for a motorhome chassis of the same era.
School bus listings.
Cube van listings.
Been some time since I had to track some down but Raybestos and Wagner catalogs still had the part #s for the driveline brakes.
You and they will be surprised what they can get when they look n the right book and place.

I had the old ones relined for a small dozer that I couldn't find the break shoes for. Turned out to be cheaper that buying new ones if available.

I would do eveything that your post said to do. But as an owner of a '71 Chevy C90 with a 6-71 Detroit, I know that the dealer will just laugh at you when you make any attempt to get parts from them.

Yeah, you are going to have to improvise. Take this from someone who has a driveline park brake that still doesn't work.

If you ever see a junk one sitting somewhere, buy the whole truck. It may be worth it to get the good parts off of it.

what i did for a 1957 chevy 2 ton i restored was go into their brake catalog, in the back are pictures of brake springs, Wagner brake parts may be able to send you a catalog if the parts store doesnt keep them anymore, or the guy cant read, or wont take the time, carefully look at the springs for diameter and length ect, for the '57, the springs from the rear brakes of a late 90's ford f450 were 1/8th inch shorter but real close in every other respect i bought the whole package, you'll have to, to to get what you want but they worked fine something in that book will pass for the replacement springs

Stop at a Navistar dealer, they should be able to get what you need. That kind of stuff is somewhat generic. If not, I have a 1973 F-750 here that I'm gonna cut up.

Try D&D truck parts in Corunna MI. If they don't have it or can't get it you don't need it. He is one of those guys that can tell you what you have, before you tell him what it goes on. 989 743 5707 IS the number. Might be a ways away for you.
