The original subject was "John Deere 1010 will not run properly".

I know this is an old post, but it has a picture that says to refer to a page, but the other page is not here. It is on governor adjustment.

I have a 63 1010 RUS. I have the thing running pretty good, but I lack RPMs. At max throttle, all I can get is 2000 out of it. Is this because the governor needs adjusting or is there another problem? I have it timed at 2000 RPM @26 degrees. It advances and holds the 26 almost perfectly. I just lack more RPMs.

Do you have a John Deere service Manual, not an IT manual?
I would recommend going through your linkage and properly setting them to the correct lengths before you open the governor.

I set the linkage on my 2010 about 10 years ago and I could not beleive the difference in how it ran. The governor would open up and the tractor would lug once again. Night and day differrence

I don't know if this will help, don't know what the RUS is, I had a 1965 1010 crawler. I scanned some pages from my shop manual for you, hope you can read them. It does say that slow idle is 600 RPM and fast idle is 2700 RPM with a working speed range of 1500 to 2500 RPM. That 26 degree mark should be at 2500 RPMs +/- 25. Seems I duplicated the first two images, don't know how to remove them so do the best you can. If you have questions that my manual can answer, just ask.

Looks like the pages are hard to read. If you want I will re-scan them at a higher detail and post again, maybe it will be better. Post back what you need.
