I posted the other day about removing this end from p/s shaft, to replace the seals. got some input & thanks. Got that thing broke loose today, but it was tough. tried thin homemade tool in the small slots that are there for backup on shaft after putting enough heat from oxy/acty to melt lock-tite. wouldn't hold, tried double visegrips/rag/rubber/etc combo helper, nope. actually thought it maybe LH thread, but not--I checked travel & found that end sticks out couple inchs from seal area, so put my best pipe wrench on very end of that polished shaft, used cheater on wrench--popped loose, screwed out handy. only marked the chrome shaft in a couple places, filed so not to damage new seals passing over. will never contact after that.I think those 2 thin slots are designed for factory assembly. thinking later, air chisel woulda probably helped a bunch, wasn't set up for it.
