I'm not sure they know cows work.

Edit: showed up on my news feed, supposedly at a trader joe's.

So what do they want?....Open all the gates and let the cows out and starve in the winter?

This is display of ignorance. They don't understand how wonderfully efficient a cow is at turning cellulose into protein.

It's not the youth I'm worried about, its the ignorant adults who encourage this sort of thing and are misleading the youths.
 
Sure would like to visit that store. Think I would buy several gallons of milk that day. No sure how pulling cows teats equals violence. Anyone know what hate group that is represented in the picture? Or where it happened?
 
Young girls that still live with mom and dad ,I'll bet. They don't care what their "Almond" milk cost mom to
buy. Wait till they have kids to feed. And only a mammal can give milk,Almonds and soy beans can't. So there
is no such thing as "Almond Milk", drink maybe. These folks want to put a end to animal agri. Last time I
milked a cow, this morning , the cow was still very much alive after.

If they're so good at converting cellulose, why are they all fattened on corn in confinement lots?

I grow my own beef. They never see grain and they never end up on dry lots.

I think both sides need to give a little.
 
And if you don't milk them on time they get to bellowing at you! As if they prefer to be milked, rather than have a full udder.

I think they do not even have a clue. I wonder do they like steak, hot dogs, and a good prime rib. I really do not think they enjoy one of those vegie paddies. I wonder when they got done there if they went to the Ham section and held up a picture of a pig. Thank you for a good laugh yep there out of it.

I saw a cartoon recently that showed a cow standing next to a vegetable garden holding a sign that said, "Hey, Mr. Vegan. I poop on your food".

That's real organic fertilizer.

Most of the world is getting caught up in causes and picketing for things that they really don't know much about.

And out leaders seem to be pre-programmed to give in to anyone who pickets or holds demonstrations. The awful part is that nobody really knows who is behind these demonstration and who is really paying the costs. The press certainly doesn't seem interested in the old tried and true journalism of "Follow the money!"
 
If they want to make sure that the milk cows are are killed just make it illegal to drink to milk.


Best line I've heard in while - "If you want more of an animal - make it taste better".


If Bald Eagles tasted better than chickens there would be more Bald Eagles and fewer chickens.
 
First you have to have a sense of shame to be embarrassed - that too is lacking in many people (not just young people).
 
everybody below wants to blast the youth for doing this but i just have one question? WHERE WERE THE PARENTS WHEN THEY WERE GROWING UP? EVERYBODY WANTS TO BLAME SOMEBODY THESE DAYS BUT NO ONE WANTS TO TAKE CREDIT FOR WHAT THEY PRODUCED
 
They took a page out of the protester's hand book. Changed it to COWS LIVES MATTER! DO CHICKENS
LIVES MATTER? PIGS LIFES MATTER? WHALES? DULPHINS? DEER? …..Give me a break, please.
 
I ask myself the same question!

My operation is cow/calf to finish on 100% grass. Happy customers and happy cows.

I agree that there is a reasonable middle ground. Our animals deserve to be well treated. I get tired of rabid protesters and SJWs who are unable to make a reasoned argument and are only capable of name calling.
 
What's funny is that this protest looks like it is going on at a Trader Joe's. I think most of their crap is organic free range food so the
cows are treated better than the farmer.
 
Fatjay, I milk these poor helpless cows and when one of them are sick they sure don't act like they want to live! I put a little feed in the manger and they come walking in. Not to bad a life as long as they are productive. I wish someone could give the protesters a boot in the a** because most act like they need it.

The problem is when people don't bother to research what they're protesting, they do it "because this one guy said something once". They're to lazy to put in the effort and jump on every bandwagon that happens to roll by.
 
Too many people who have no idea how things work get
involved in trying to stop it.
And way too many of them end up working places like
the USFS, BLM, EPA, etc.

Boy Howdy ! We, as parents are TOTALY responsible for our kids. (those of you that don't have kids aren't - but you should share with kids your wisdom -if applicable). I come from the school of "when they are bad, a smack on the bum" works - you don't have to hurt a kid, you just want their undivided attention. Poverty etc. isn't an excuse. Stupidity isn't either. Stop ranting Bob. I have 4 kids (oldest is turning 40 soon). They are all doing well and I am proud of them.
 
It is nothing new, kids have protested for generations, usually do not understand what they are protesting.
 
More college educated idiots. Want a good laugh, Google the story of the highschool kid who started a hoax to show bow gullible people
are. He started a petition to ban dihydrogen oxide as a dangerous chemical used in industry, which we all know is a water by a scary
name.
 
Maybe they think the poor cows are in pain when you pull on those teats! Maybe with cold hands, owww.
 
Boy my brain just took a real screeeeeeeming tilt to the left. What if you took those two in the super market, and they were producing like your good old cuddly bovine and they didn't get milked on time. Triple D, maybe Quad F? Man I think I just broke my brain. Bet this gets zapped
 
That's funny. They are in the wrong department for sure. Dairy girls are working girls and on most farms live a pretty good life while their humans work themselves to death taking care of them.
These two probably stopped at Burger King on the way home for dinner. It's funny how some folks still don't really understand where our food comes from.
I'm adding this one to the wall in my office.

What's worse: a couple of know-it-all young kids making a stink about something they don't understand, or a bunch of over-the-hill geezers getting worked up about it? Surely you have more important things to worry about, like figuring out where it was you left your teeth.

trying to find that picture from movie"girl cat help it"...jayne mansfield holding to well positioned bottles of milk...used it in econ class at school recently for A GOT MILK CAMPAIGN...IT WAS FUNNY AS NO ONE REMEMBERS JAYNE MANSFIELD ...neither did the guy running the class( have to say it as most so called teachers no not much..read off script)anyhow on youtube you'll find the movie girl cant help it watch & laugh.....
 
We must stop the cow violence.....lol. Reminds me of the movie The Jerk when one "charity" showed him a video and he said "Ive heard of this....CAT juggling!! Turn it off. I knew there would come a day when there were not enough people who understand what farming is anymore. It used to be in school there was one or two city kids in a class, they were the "odd" ball, now it is the farm kid that is. Most places don't understand where everything comes from anymore.

This weekend I'll be driving my 1942 Farmall H pulling wagons full of visitors to one of our larger dairies in the county, about 800 cows. Even though we're rural county, there are still lots of people that don't know even the basics of farming. the annual open house that I've been privileged to be part of for the last 6 years is one way to educate about 500 every year so maybe some of them won't hold up that kind of sign. We, as farmers no matter how big or small our farms are have a responsibility to educate as much as we can to prevent this kind of uninformed behavior. I will make a pretty decent wager that neither one of those girls ever set foot on a modern dairy farm, or any other kind of farm for that matter.

Had a kid jump into a bull holding pen. At a local rodeo to free the bulls. I believe he spent a month in the hospital.
 
Why don't I ever run into these guys? I go out looking for them, but never run into or find them. How do you guys do it? I drive 70 miles to a pizza place down over in Walkerton because I hear they're there, but when I get there, they aint there. True, there were a couple of real good looking young cowgirls and a whole lot of nice friendly people and I left with a couple of good pizzas and had some real good ice cream while I was there, but that wasn't the point. These guys were supposed to be there, a whole bunch of them, and when I got there, they and the news truck were gone and I wanted the news guys to have some real news to show. Next time you guys run into them, will someone call me while they're still there? And if they leave, tell me which way they went? I'm looking for these guys.

I remember my grandfather milking cows . I did not know they now kill them in a giant squeezer which gets all the milk out . Is that how they are doin' it now?
 
When my youngest son was in the Navy and based out of Bremerton WA he and a friend were in Seattle. Some PETA protestors were outside a KFC. His friend went in and got a bucket of legs and was walking among the protesters offing them some free food. My son says that if they were both not big guys they most likely would have been jumped!

These kids may have learned it at home. One of my sister in laws is that way. She claims it because of medical conditions but then says stuff like "we don't eat things with faces". Luckily the nieces and nephews sneak meat behind her back and the BIL eats what he wants.

I think you are right. Who would be attracted to a job at the EPA? Perfect candidates are those who want to "save the planet". Common sense not required. It's one thing to have those types protesting but then give them a job with some power and we've got a real problem.

They probably believe what they see in the news and what their professors tell them without question. I could go on.. but I won't....
