i did not provide enough info on my first question. this generator is the type that has the connection for the hour meter and it does not disassemble the same as a generator without the hour meter connect. it looks to me like the end the pully is on should be where it comes apart, i removed everything behind the pulley including the key but and i even applied a puller and put a fair amount of pressure to remove the end cover without breaking it and the puller was not the ideal one for the job but i think nit should have come loose but not. i would like to know if i am on the correct end of the gen to come apart the other end has the small gear that drives the hour meter and it does not look like it comes apart there maybe but i don't know. if you can advise me from there i would appreciate it. thanks ron

If the generator has been rebuilt it is possible that someone used Loctite on the bearing if it was a bit loose on the armature shaft. Otherwise it may just be rusted to the shaft.
