My Day to be Destructive

Re: RR Lund's post about working on Sunday. I'm getting ready to go to Rantoul Thursday. Golf car is running good, worked on trailer to haul it. The trailer is my sister in laws, it came here from St. Louis after wife's brother died and his wife wanted us to have his lawn mower. I decided to repack the wheel bearings, one of the grease seals wasn't the greatest, so I went to Muscatine to get another. O'Rielly's didn't have one, Farm & fleet had them but you had to buy the bearings to get the seal, Auto Zone couldn't help without a part number, so I came home and used the old one instead. He had taken the tail lights off because his driveway was so steep, he tore the license plate off every time he used it. He had magnetic lights that didn't work the best. I bought a new set of tail lights and welded on a plate on each side to raise the lights for ground clearance. Got the lights mounted and new wire ran and hooked up. Backed the 97 Dodge Ram in and tried the lights, nothing. The drivers rear tail light hasn't worked since last winter, so I started trying to find out why. It has the add on plugs for trailer lights, and the one on the drivers side seemed suspect. Finally got it apart and wires were corroded and broke. OK, I'll pick up a new pigtail tomorrow after work. Thought I would load the golf cart just for the heck of it and fell thru the trailer floor. So I tore the floor out of the trailer and have to get 4 2x10x8' and 3 2x8x8' to replace the floor. It's a good thing I didn't have to move a tractor or I would have broken it also. Just another normal day here in NW Ill. Chris

Sorry to hear you had a bummer day, but glad you "found" all the issues there at home rather than on the side of the interstate.
Also, though you may already have it all back together, the local (East Peoria) Motion Industries bearings store is pretty good at matching up bearings and seals - and seemingly better quality than in those "blister pack" kits.
Going to Rantoul on I-74 on Thursday?

Take care!
John

(quoted from post at 21:20:57 08/23/15) Yep,you're better off sitting in a rocking chair on the porch.
ah! That rocking chain will kill you! Better to tear stuff up than that.

My left arm and leg went numb on the way home with the backhoe on the float, dropped her off the shoulder....over corrected and jacknifed her...got a $490.00 careless out of it to boot...a couple silver bullet's and a shot of mezcal ought to settle me down for the night...i'll worry about the arm and leg thing in the morning....ain't feeling the love right now....

We have a Motion Ind. store in Muscatine, but they are closed on Sunday. Oh ya, Menards 11% sale ended Sunday. Chris
