OT: Kodiak, AK

Finally got up to visit my sister and bother-in-law up here and it is beautiful. If I could convince the future Mrs. Fullers Farmalls I would move up here. I love it and I have only been here for a half day. Well take care all!

I've been to AK three times so far- every 15 minutes or so you can reset your "That's the most beautiful place I have ever been" meter.

The neighbor girl moved up around Palmer I think it was, several years ago. She teaches school up there. Her folks went up there to see her a few years ago. They went for three weeks in July. He said there was one day that the temp got above 50 and it didn't rain. He said never again.
The wife is obsessed with it. Watches every "Alaskan alligator bounty hunter cop" show on television. For me,it's not a love/hate thing,it's total indifference. I have no more interest in going there than I have in going to Omaha.

75 is more like it, 60 it might as well be 32 for me. To darn cold. Having rediculas weather her with temps in the 50's in morning for August and should not be below mid 60's for this time of year. Acting more like late September than August. And I have put my location on here hundreds of times.

I could have just as easy pulled up any other place that rarely crosses my mind. No offense to Omaha. lol

Our daughter lives in LaVista, a suburb on the southwest edge of Omaha and loves it. I'm not sure I could handle it, myself.

But, I'm used to living out in the boondocks where I can shoot a deer from my patio it the opportunity presents itself.

Went to AK, last year, mid-July. Seven day cruise, six days on land. Rained only the final day, in Fairbanks. Lick of the draw....but beautiful country! Couldn"t imagine living there at our age...just not the homesteader type.

My wife and I road my motorcycle up there in 2011 from Mi. We left July 15 and rode 10,000 miles in 4 weeks. I think we had our rain suits on everyday we spent in Ak. It still was a great trip and my wife wants to do it again. We have another couple we travel with who just retired and wants to go. We will probably do it again in the next couple years if our good health holds out.
