Atwoods does it again.

I needed an oil filter for my Ford tractor. Went to Atwood's.
All kinds of oil, but no, zero, nada oil filters unless you've got a Briggs.
I could of bought 500 gallons of oil, but have to go someplace else for the filters.
What the heck are they thinking?

I guess Atwoods just do not think,Period. I ran into the same thing with them about 6 yrs back. Really not farm oriented any more, like some of there competion. I just drive on by to another farm supply store. clint

Sounds like our local tsc. Great if you have horses or are into Chinese made junk. Not much for tractors there.

Atwoods is always good for a laugh. Half the stuff on the shelf either has no price or is completely in the wrong spot. If you
have a question about a price and actually bring the thing to the counter then they can't find it in the computer.

Sounds a lot like TSC. I went to get some 1/4" locking pins which they do actually have, as they may have a use on a Ford 8N somewhere. I had what I needed when an older gent came in with a hose, asked for help but they only had 2 working that I could see. One was ringing up customers, the other gal was busy and in my past experience is great if you need horse stuff. Not so great with pretty much anything else.

I told him I'd help him out. Looked at it, found the right length hose on the shelf. Old one had 1/2" NPT fittings so we were good there, but he needed a swivel on one end to be able to put it back on. Since they don't sell hose with swivels on, I helped him find the right swivel fitting, which to my surprise, they actually had 1 hanging on the rack. Then he asked about oil- it was an IH 504 so I helped him find the best thing they had. All in all, took about 5 minutes to help him. If he had the gal that worked there help him, I really don't know if he would've gotten all that he needed.

Filters are a whole different business from oil and probably they wouldn't be competitive on price with local auto stores in which case you'd of posted how high$ their filters were and how you had to stop at a local parts store on the way home to get a filter at a cheaper price.
Stores ain't your Mama's kitchen they're in business to sell things they can make money on.

While you guys are knocking it (the store), I just loaded up on their Premium hyd-tranny fluid, J20c and most others rated in the 2
gallon jug for $17. Better price and easier to handle than in the 5 gallon containers most others sell. Has the Warren dist. source right
on the label....oh and yes it's orange.

I was in Home Depot couple of days ago looking for a dawn to dusk electric eye for one of my night lights. Finally found the box
(large enough to hold a couple of dozen) and there was only 1, hiding just behind the front flap of the box....apparently got
overlooked. I wanted 2. Summoned the clerk(s). Scanned the bar code and said that they had 7 in stock. Fine I want another. There
were 3 clerks now and myself scanning the storage area above the racks....nar a one to be found.

After a bit I blurted out that well somebody must have stolen the other 6. One clerk answered in saying that you wouldn't believe
what goes out that door unpaid and there isn't a thing we can do about it..........sad sad. The unit was 9 bucks x 6 on just this one
item and that has to come out of profit that is attached to items for sale.

Thank goodness for China and other places of sort where folks can buy for pennies on the dollar and sell at a reasonable
price......may be the only way they can stay in business.

Employee attrition is worse than shoplifting as I understand. Then there are the customers who will buy a battery power tool set to use on a small project. When the project is done they box it back up and return it as defective. The ones who shoplift an item and then return it for a refund have guts but no morals.

Awhile back I was at Menards looking for some electrical supplies. The guy helping me find what I needed had no patience and treated me like a second class citizen. When every item was found he hurried off and as soon as he was gone a lady employee came up to me and tried to smooth things over. I have never seen that guy there again so he must have received the boot treatment.
