Modified the bucket on my ferguson

Modified the bucket so it curls back further, and I don't have to have it 5' over my head to move dirt. Had the steel already, had to buy some bits to get through it though.

When all was done I moved a few loads. Didn't have to come nearly as high as before.

Only problem is now, it doesn't move far enough to dump! I have to shake it up and down to get the dirt out. I'll play with it more later, but for now it works and I can get nice healthy scoops.

Good idea, but you might want to look in to a few new hydraulic hoses before one of them breaks when you don't expect it. Don't ask how I learned this.

That's the plan after I start working again. For now, I'm just replacing them as they pop. Done two so far on the ferguson, 10 on the oliver. I'm $550 into hoses in the past 2 months.

Jay, if you drill 4more holes and move the pin down so it is closer to the pivot the bucket will dump at a steeper angle and still load. The only
way to get better filling and better dumping is with a longer hydraulic cylinder. HTH

Cutting the steel destroyed 2 blades on the band saw, made the teeth side look like the back side of the blade. Drilling took new 3/4" and 1/2" carbide bits and half a can of oil plus an hour on the drill press at the lowest speed to drill 10 holes.

Yeah I think i'm going to make another set of holes. Before it would not curl back at all, it was in the dumping position when curled all the way back. I think I'm going to try and create some linkage for the arms so a short throw will dump the bucket all the way.
