i got this in a box of blacksmith tools, anyone know what it is and used for ????? i don't know if it has anything to do with blacksmithing or not, it looks new and
unused in a box of antiques.

Not a clue...My best guess would be to make horse shoes. cut or angle "ears" of shoe with hammer when hot. Use the other end to make the holes for the shoe. It would make a recessed slot...MTP
