Beware of DEF fluid contamination

Everyone with a newer diesel with a DEF tank
I have a 14 Ram 3500 hotshot truck that has gotten ahold of bad DEF fluid. I buy all my fluid from pilot, flying J and Coffee Cup truck stops in
South Dakota I have bought a few jug from truck stops before I realized I could buy at pump any way Ram will not warranty issue truck has
94000 miles and I bought a 2 year unlimited mile warranty if I fix rite parts are gonna be around 5,000 bucks or I delete it for 2500.
Just wanted to make sure everyone was aware of this issue
Dealer said it stunk and felt like dawn dish soap Going to sample it and make sure nobody dumped stuff in my tank

Vehicle systems, emmission related or otherwise, are not warranted for the use of contaminated fluids, etc.

If they can prove it is contaminated, then the station you got the DEF at is on the hook. If they cannot prove what it is, it is warranty.

Not what dealer said. But I've heard stories were they said not covered. Person paid to fix then they make a warranty claim and get paid twice

I would take a sample out of YOUR truck yourself. Then have it looked at by another Dodge dealership. Then call the regional service manager for Chrysler. Then work on HIM to see what Chrysler will do.

Also in the future be real careful pumping DEF at the pumps. DEF is Urea and water mixed. It will settle and make gunk in tanks. The large under ground fuel tanks are a bad deal waiting to happen. Get a local supplier to drop you off a 250 gallon tote if you use much. I can get it for right at $1.89 a gallon in a 250 gallon tote. I would think that you would rarely need to buy out on the road that way.

Just about any metal other than stainless steel is very corrosive from DEF contact, this makes me wonder if some of those fill stations are using the proper pumps, containers and other equipment. Also the shelf life of DEF decreases with higher temperatures, down to around 2 months maximum at around 100*F.

Well, since DEF is simply synthetic pee, you might consider drinking a lot of coffee, iced tea, soda pop or whatever and using the DEF tank as your men's room <<<grin>>>! That would solve the supply, cost and contamination issues all in one shot maybe???
