Generic free word processnig program

Does anyone know of a free, simple and safe, easy to use word processing software program downloadable for an old backup windows computer? Would be nice if similar to word or works.

Google docs is great, if your computer has web access. Microsoft's Word online is great too, and very similar to word.

I use Open Office, works well for me. The spreadsheet program in it works pretty well, except the graphing capabilities aren't as good. Things like background color, labels, etc. aren't as easy as with Excel.

I use LibreOffice.

Abiword is another open source word processor. I haven't used it, but it's quite popular.

Open office used to be the deal. Something went wrong and they are in wind down mode.

Apatche and Libra took over the open source and future developments, each going in slightly different directions.

There are fans of all three, and they are based on about the same source.

I use open office, it came on win 7. I like it. Now I'm getting adv about free win 10. I don't like the idea of switching and learning something new.

Dunno if you're going to be using the laptop while online, but if so Google Docs works fairly well for simple word processing, spreadsheets, etc. If you'll need to use it offline, then the others mentioned would be good choices.
