Thousand Series Foot/HandThrottle

Anyone know how to adjust the foot/hand throttle, so the hand throttle stays where you set it? This is on a 4630, the hand throttle does not stay where you leave it, funny when you drive it, the throttle changes with the bumps, not good for PTO work for sure.

Follow the linkage . Some place in the linkage there has to be a friction plate sort of thing that is suppose to hold the throttle in place and sound like yours need to be adjusted

Trying to think here. I think there's a plug in the side of the console isn't there? By your right knee?

I was thinking there has to be something like that... and I meant to post this on the Ford forum LOL ! I'll have to look er over and see whats what like you said, already been through parts of this one to get it ready for work, one of the last little details, but an important one, darned bumps control the throttle not me LOL !

Meant to post this on the Ford forum, but like Rich said, best to look it over, I'll see if the CNH parts diagram is any help too, they can be tough to decipher the first time, but are certainly appreciated just the same.

I have an Oliver 77 that has a pair of small vise grips on the throttle area due that type of problem hit a bump and it throttles down which is not good when using the NH460 haybine

Thats right, and that model comes up when you do a search, funny.. I wonder how many models of different manufacture, share the same model number.

At least its in my basement garage, nice and cool in there, I'll poke around and see if I can figure it out. I've had the thing going on 2 months, made 2 payments already and the only work its done is pulling out the stuck trespasser LOL !

Yes, won't it plug if that happens? Its annoying as heck, and its like taking that 950 loader you have down the road at road speed, you know when they start bouncing or teetering like most will at some point or speed? Its hard to correct until you stop, just keeps getting worse until you do. Worst part is I've got to make some adjustment with the seat that is seized up, hard to get my foot on the pedal comfortably, as the seat moves, so does the throttle LOL ! Same thing happens on a dozer with short track frames, once your cut gets wavy, it repeats until you get it graded flat again.

Just like old said=there is a friction disc in the linkage.Usually it is at the bottom of the first shaft below the lever.I had to tighten mine up the other day in the field on my 485,luckily I keep wrenches in my tool box.Mark

Take the wrap around kick panel off or just pull it back enough so you can get in there... then tighten the nut on the end of the throttle shaft until it stays put. There's just a Bellville washer on there that tensions the friction disc so unless the friction disc is gone, tightening it should be sufficient.

Thanks Rod, I would bet you are right, hope like heck to finish this one today and test 'er out!

I'll take note of that and keep the appropriate tools in the side mounted box on this one, save me a trip to the garage !
