OT Last year for garden

I am not raising a garden anymore, wife is mad that garden produces too much, just tired of hearing that.

David G- I donate what I have left over to the local food pantry. Or, if I don't feel like freezing/canning a crop that is coming on, I donate all of it.

Sorry to hear that. Is there a middle ground such as donating some of the produce to a church or civic organization? You could scratch your garden itch and the wife would not feel pressured to deal with all of it.
I enjoy gardening but lack the money to do it first class with raised beds and so forth. I know I would have better watermelon and earlier if I could do that. The farm eats up all the money I have so the garden is very basic in terms of inputs.

Bingo, welcome to my world, wife will not allow me to donate anything to anyone.

Her mother is a real piece of work, will sit on something and let it rot instead of letting someone else have it.

With all due respect. Has she been to the grocery store lately.Prices are going up every time I go. The produce you buy. Will rot before you can get home. I wish I could have a garden.

Shoot I throw bags of green beans to most nay body who wants them. By doing that I got something I needed to fix my car AC unit for free. A guy I know in turn threw a can of R-12 to me since I give him things like the beans and tomato's etc

I can't say anymore than "garden' issues here, but every issue is like this for me, just trying to hold on day by day so I get to see my kids.

"wife will not allow me" I suspect this is just one of many things she doesn't "allow". Sit her down and calmly explain to her that there are some things in your life that she doen't have a vote in. Draw a line in the sand and stand up to her.
Then find an attorney :)

Our garden was right next to the hog lot; any produce that we didn't want went over the fence to the hogs, never to be seen again.

Women ain't happy unless they are complaining about something, nature of The Beast, mine's real happy cause I give her lots of things to gripe about plus I'm hard of hearing(LOL)

David, I understand your frustration. Mine didn't want a garden big enough to grow more than a couple mater and pepper plants while I also wanted enough peas, corn, y & g beans to can and/or freeze. Instead we have to buy it.

With water rationing here in my dry state of California, I doubt I will have much of a garden next. We have plenty of fertilizer from our government, but still need water. Stan
