FEL front tire change

Hey Guys before I ask, I know this is not the norm but here goes. I have a Ford 2000 with a 730 loader which is too big for the tractor. But I want to change the old ribbed front tires to a truck tire to keep them from gouging the grass when turning. I use it a lot in grass and it makes a mess. The tires on there now are 6.50-16, does anybody know a conversion for this? Thanks in advance

215/85RX16 will be as close as you can easily find, you may need to look a while for used ones--they may be a little difficult to find.

I did the same thing with my IH 2444 many years ago. I took off the 6.50 X 16 tri-ribs and replaced them with nearly bald 7.50 X 16 mud and snow tires. The flat surface versus the taper to the tri-ribs made a big difference as to sinking in when traveling on soft ground.

In a radial a 235 85 16 will be the most common in a nylon it will be the old 7.50 16 I would go with the 8 ply nylon or the 10 ply radial. If we stay with those we have the least tire problems with blowing out or separating.

Not what you are asking, but I have heard of breaking bolts in the front axle on those tractors with a loader installed. I don't know if they were all adjustable, but I believe if they were, the bolts could shear. I think I heard of drilling out the axles and putting in larger bolts. Of course that would lead to the next weakest link.

Agree with all the recommendations already given - - might also want to look at Trailer Tires, which often have flat tread, stiff sidewalls, and Load Range D or E - -such as ST235-80R16 or ST235-85R16.

I have an ancient and ugly loader cobbled onto a JI Case 830 with ST225-75R15s on its front, aired to 65psi, and they seem to do well.
