So been working on building this dumb bed on this Ford ranger. I do not like how it is so far so may adjust thing but here it is so far

If you moved your hinge point ahead ten inches or so you would get a steeper angle so it would dump steeper and handle more weight.

Can't be done because if I did I would have to cut the frame off before the rear spring shackle and I did not think it would be good to have only front spring shackles hooked up. You have to think out side of the box when building things like this and also have a clue what how and why and no you idea will NEVER work

Not seeing how you have the box attached is it possible to lower the box mounting (closer to stock location)?
Maybe notching box cross rails and fitting/welding the front to rear bars into notches and maybe get box low enough that you could weld bed to rails as well? That would help in stiffening it up too.
Knowing there's not much room, only a few inches, between rear shackle mounts and end of frame I think you could move pivot point forward a couple inches. Might need to trim and box that part of frame tho. It would increase dumping angle a couple of degrees.
Only other way I see to increase dump angle is to raise winch higher, however I see a point where the winch will start pulling the box apart.

Just thinking out loud: If you were to raise the winch mounting point a couple inches and have the mount pivot, at frame rails, with box while allowing box to 'slip' as raises/lowers, you could move vertical bars closer together (right above frame rails, you would need to spread load out over more frame or box that part of frame). Also lowering the point cable attaches to box (not much room before interfering with drive shaft). Also install angled bars from under winch mounting point to up-right pivot points. Might get another 10 degrees angle.

Never mind my ramblings, I "ALWAYS" over think stuff like this. Probably wont work any ways.

I would say that spring shackles are pretty much right at the center of the Box LOL. But from the picks it looks like you could move the pivot ahead a few inches and still have the body clear the frame. Take a look with it up.

I have looked at all that. This is not my first dump bed set up but more like the 20th one I have done over the years. Ya most use hyds but due to $$ this on uses a winch on the cross bar behind the cab. As for a pivot point I can not move it any or the bed will hit the bumper and that has to stay by law. I am thinking about maybe changing from a 2X2 frame to angle iron so I can drop ho high it sits by 2 or so inches which would get me more lift.

This dump set up has been one that has been both fun and hard to do. I have done many others over the years but all of those where straight frame trucks or trailers so no need to add metal to make things straight where as in this you have the hump in the frame to get around. Thinking about switching out the 2X2 frame to angle iron so I can maybe drop it by 2 inches which would give it more lift but not sure til I talk to the gal who owns it. I do plan to get some more pictures of it and better angles. It was starting to get dark last night so limited the pictures I could take

I made a head ache rake that sits behind the cab and stand just a tad bit higher then the cab and it has a winch mounted on it. The winch in turn hooks to the frame that I made that bolts to the bed. It is set up so you can also use the winch to pull things into the bed or maybe pull your self out if it got stuck

Man, that seems to me to be a complete waste of time and materials putting a dump bed on a rotten old Ranger.

Glad I ain't payin' for it.
