Question about spray rates

I'm looking at a product's label for spraying. It says 3/4 pt per acre. That's clear enough, but how much water per acre are they talking about mixing it in with? I find that info no where. I have a jug of Esteron 99 and would like to kill broadleaf in my lawn. I have a good idea of my acreage but no idea how much spray to mix. Is there a rule of thumb?

First you need to know what speed you are going to go. The size of the nozzle you are using and your pressure. Then with the nozzle size you can figure your speed and spray rate this will give you the gallons. I would use about 5-15 gallon per acre. More water will help with coverage in taller plants.

Forgot to add after you have worked the first formula at top left of page to determine the gallons per minute (GPM) that you need per tip than look at the tip charts to determine what tip size you need.

A 20" spacing a 025 or 03 at 5 mph would get you in the 10-15 GPA range.

Normal is 10 gals per acre. Most guys have their sprayers calibrated for 10 gals at 6mph/ 3/4 pt per acre is VERY light. What are you spraying. We normally apply Grazon and RU at over a qt per acre.

You may want to experiment with your sprayer and a measured amount of water. See how much area you cover at your spraying speed. Then dig out the calculator to find out how much material to add to a tank full.

Wow! All this info just to walk around and spray my lawn with a hand sprayer? Who knew.
