Tractors for sale...

A neighbor a couple miles away is cleaning up the farm where their dad lives and they grew up. They kept the tractors they wanted, the good stuff, and want to get rid of these. Dad has a hard time not buying any old tractors he sees, no matter the brand if they are cheap. There is a Case DO, which has a cracked block, an easy lock and stitch candidate though, a Ferguson 30, a Ford 8n, and and SC Case. They are asking $500 each, open to offers. The Ferguson 30 has new 11.2-28 rear tires and the Case DO has new 14.9-28 rear tires. The 8n has one newer rear 13.6-38 tire, and 2 new front tires. None of the tractors run now, did a few years back when their dad was alive, he was a friend of my grandfather, but all engines are free. Are these things worth $500 each for parting or trying to get running? I kind of thought so, but dad wasn't sure and wanted me to ask as we don't have Fords, Ferguson, or Case, and no one else around here does either. We are IH and Oliver guys. What do you guys think? Steel is currently at $60/ ton here. Thanks !

I agree with D.R. They should be able to find new homes within a month at 5 bills apiece, especially with good looking rubber.
Those Cases are neat little tractors.

You would be very safe at $500 each for these tractors. If they are truly not stuck you could easily double your money on them with the tires they have on them. Just haul them home and THEN get them running. LOL I know of guys that do a simple fix on a tractor and lose out on buying it then.

What I can make out in the pictures is $500 of rubber on each, the iron is about free.

They should get rid of them.

The two Case tractors look pretty straight. The one with the wide front looks like a SO. This would be the orchard version of the S series. The DC looks pretty good too, but I don't see the hand clutch lever. It should be on the left side.[/quote]

Yep, It is Richard, I had pictures of all the serial tags, but accidentally erased them, oh well. They are only a couple miles away.

The NF one with junky loader is definitely an SC,
and I believe it had a hand clutch on the right
side. The DO definitely has a hand clutch and it
IS on the left side.

JD,
I was able to roll the engine with the fan and holding tension on the belt on all of them except the SC, which I had a hard time trying to fit my hand in there, but that is the one that is least interesting to my dad anyway.

Kind of a screwy deal, they sold the property where the tractors are and retained ownership of the tractors so they could sell them themselves. At least they have a friendly agreement with the new land owner that they can stay as long as it takes to get them sold.

I wouldn't think twice about the price . Grab them before the scrap man does and give them a new life .

That Case DO we find VERY interesting, even though neither dad nor I have ever owned a Case, and neither does anyone around us, I don't think there was ever a dealer anywhere near here like the other brands had. Only problem is, my dad bought a straight mast forklift that has an Oliver 66 engine in it, and a Ford L9000 dump/scraper truck last week that my mother didn't think he really needed. So, he was going to try to convince her that he really NEEDED this stuff lol. When she asked him what he was going to do with a dump truck, his only reply was, "what can't I do with a dump truck?" LOL

You know, you're right. I've been around Case tractors all my life, and should have known that. I guess 04:30 is too early to be posting.

List them on the photo adds, they should sell then. Where are you by the way? That DO would be a nice piece for a collector. If you are on facebook go to "case power and equipment" or "ji case farm machinery", they will let you list them there too.

easy one
buy em all....right away...little far for me, but there is probably a 'someone like me' driving around in your area.......
might even get a few bucks off on the package deal.
if you are a money person....ya can't lose money.
If you are a tractor person...lots of projects.
all those tires......wow
Having played the finding a reasonable 14.9-28 game, I can tell ya...there ain't no cheap ones out there....

That's a good answer!

I've been eyeballing a Case LL that's tucked away at a friend's house. All steel but unknown internal condition.

Eh Jon, I am in southern Gratiot County, MI. No one will be back around that farm until 9:00 next Saturday, so they said nothing will be sold until then, so dad I guess is gonna go scope it out again one last time as soon as they get back there next weekend. IF my mom lets him. And a pic of his "new" dump truck that mom didn't want him to buy last week.
