Does anyone know why a new oil gauge doesn't work? It's not from India. It's made here by a reputable place. Old one didn't work either.

It is possible that the source has no pressure! Hook a grease fitting to the input and carefully pump up full scale pressure. Grease guns can put out thousands of PSI, so go easy. Jim

On that john Deere you're working on, it's common to have a broken oil pump coupler. Remove your crankcase cover. You will see a rod coming up from the bottom of the crankcase, at the top of that rod should be a square coupler. Might be gone.

Take the line loose at the gauge and with the plugs out spin the engine over. No oil out of the line says you got your self an oil pump problem. If your working on a 2 cylinder JD is no oil likely to be the oil pump drive coupler being bad. By the way it helps tp always say what you working on

It's the coupler. It's gone. Not good. Not good at all. Hopefully no damage. Everything looks pretty good I was told so luckily it didn't run much as I was fixing another problem. And the guy before hopefully didn't run it much either. That's what he told me. The tractor didn't hold water.

Thanks.
